Major Improvements to The Entity Types For Auto-Redaction

Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? No, we didn’t teach the redaction service to roll over, but its learned a thing or two when it comes to auto-redaction.

  • 2 New Entity Types Have Been Added
    • IBAN and SWIFT Codes: The financial classifiers can now be auto-detected and redacted. They are available in all environments and require no custom training.
    • CJIS Code: Detecting arrest offense codes for the state of Maryland.
  • Entity Types Now Reflect Your Organization’s NLP Preferences
    • The entity type list is now dynamic. It is derived based on the NLP providers your company chooses. By default only the Redacted.ai entity classifiers are enabled, but we provide options to get additional types from 3rd party providers such as Google and Microsoft.

Important Bug Fixes

Another way to get smarter is by becoming less dumb. There were some nasty bugs, although rare, that were quite infuriating. They were the kind of bugs that really bug us.

  • .TXT files are now handled properly instead of returning “blank” pages. The preprocess service does not attempt to rewrite the syntax of a PDF in one specific technical context; this fixes the “blank page issue” seen in production with text files.
  • Mobile users and small screen owners we have a fix just for you. After clicking on an entity from the sidebar, the app now correctly scrolls to the proper page. If you have not seen this bug in the past, congratulations on the large screen real estate.
  • No more “saving errors” when trying to add your own custom text to be written on top of a redacted entity. There is now a hard limit of 50 characters, which is enforced, to ensure the text can always be saved and displayed.
  • Fixed bug with entity popover arrow, wobbling cog on upload/download, disappearing document name.

Small, But Thoughtful, Enhancements to User Interface

  • Buttons with states like “Deleting…” or “Saving…” now show an animated indicator.
  • New typography throughout the app, which is more appealing and easier to read.
  • More spreadsheet improvements when redacting native CSV files (still in private beta). Now users can use CMD, and SHIFT plus click or arrow keys to select cells in the table.
