Features, UX Enhancements & Reliability In One Release 😱

The most exciting releases for users are the ones chock-full of cool features. Meanwhile designers and creative types love to release clean, modern UX enhancements to delight their customers. But what developers really want is to harden the app, making it solid and reliable, like a Dwayne Johnson rock.

So who won this cycle at Redacted.ai? EVERYONE 🎉 – that’s right, features, visual enhancements, and performance improvements all in one point release. In fact it’s the biggest release since the last time we said it was the biggest release. Okay, enough with the suspense, let’s get to the goodies already!

Features, Features, and more Features

  • Review Modes ✍️ - We reviewed the way we let you review. Now you’ll have access to make reviewing the automatic redactions as strict (or as lax) as YOU want. Visit your settings (both for the organization and/or the collection) and you’ll be able to require if documents get reviewed or not. You’ll even have access to allow (or deny) the ability to Quick Review – review all pages in one go, as opposed to mandating users mark each individual page as reviewed.

  • Deleting Files! - For far too long if you uploaded a file by accident, or had to reupload the same file multiple times - Readacted.ai never let you forget your mistake. No Longer – now feel free to delete files from the index view by clicking on the 3 dots next to the file name.

  • Better Detection - Added File ID Numbers, UK postal codes, and UK insurance codes. Also improved the way we handle entities we detect surrounded by punctuation or special characters so that they are rightfully classified as the same entity, regardless of surrounding text.

  • SORT-of awesome - Sort your collections and file indexes by file name or creation date. This is available for both the general files route, and the collection index of a single collection.

  • Jump to Next Document - The last new feature for this release is Up Next. So what is it? I just told you it’s Up Next! What’s Up Next?! No What’s on 2nd….Sorry we got carried away. “Up Next” is the new feature which allows users to quickly go to the next document for review in a collection. When you finish reviewing a document you’ll be able to jump to the next document to review without having to go back to the files index.

UX Enhancements

  • Entities Sidebar Reimagined - Are those new colorful icons in the sidebar or are you just happy to see me? Both actually 😃 Not only is the new sidebar more visually appealing, but its easier to use as well. Now you can see all the entities on the page you are viewing, or change the view to see all pages at once.

  • Entity Labels are no longer truncated No more annoying “…” when you look at the labels of the entities. What is a “US Soc…” anyway?

  • Toolbars you’ll want to lick - The toolbars have all been redesigned to match the new modern, clean aesthetic. We could explain it to you, but you know that thing about a picture being worth 1,000 words.

  • New Floating Review Widget - Gone is the dinky little review page on the bottom of the pages as you scroll. Now you can now review each page quickly, and see its review status (along with who reviewed it) by a new widget which follows alongside each page as you scroll.

Performance & Stability 🏎

  • Trust The Process - We’ve implemented a new preprocessing step before trying to analyze documents to cut down on processing errors drastically. This means you’ll be able to upload documents and not have to worry about errors!

  • Flatten Unprocessabile Documents Even if the preprocessing fails, we made the system more robust by flattening PDF data instead of producing errors. This leads to another method in which we can process documents that previously failed.

  • New Uploads in Collection Fixed an annoying issue when, under certain circumstances, new uploads to a collection would not show up in the collection index until the user refreshed. This is fixed, so no more new file disappearing act, sorry Houdini.

  • Centralized Exception Capture Added better handling of exceptions, so we can solve any upcoming issues before you have to experience them for yourself.

  • Bug Fixes - Fixed a button that previously led to a 404 page, better handling of 409 errors, and more validations to ensure desired behaviour. We could detail all the bug fixes but 😴
